Interviewed by NPR: What being around death taught this hospital chaplain about life

I’m very honored and happy to have been interviewed by NPR to share about my hospital chaplaincy work and tending to grief. May this be of some gentleness to you in our hard and hardened world.

NPR has always been my dream interview. Thank you to the amazing team who made me sound smarter than I really am.

In particular, I talk about what a body looks like as it’s dying and why we say awkward things to someone grieving. Near the end I talk about my late friend John who died at the hospital where I work. There is both an audio interview and a story article. They asked me some difficult and needed questions.
